INVESTING IN LEADERSHIP CAPITAL 2021
Spring has arrived and with that comes the time to reflect on the year that we have all experienced and to begin to look ahead and plan how you will continue to invest in growing the leadership capability in your centre in 2021.
The ECE sector is undergoing many changes and research shows that in addition to high quality teaching, strong effective leadership will have the greatest impact on building children’s identity as successful learners.
This programme is designed to enable owners, leaders, centre managers and key kaiako, leaders to step aside and take time out to think deeply about the way they lead.
In particular we will be focusing on the concept of being an influential leader with a clear purpose of:
- Taking people and ideas to new places
- Mobilising people to take the tough challenges and thrive
- Establishing and maintaining a culture of collective leadership
- Supporting ongoing professional learning
The workshop sessions will all be closely aligned to the key ECE documents to ensure those in leadership roles have the knowledge and understanding to blend and harmonise the changing landscape of expectations and requirements.
This residential leadership programme has been running for over 15 years and its longevity is a result of the positive feedback we receive and our participants come from all over New Zealand.

Some feedback…
“Karen and Ailsa inspired, motivated and supported me to reach my full potential as a leader. They have been very available throughout the year for support . This programme has delivered much more than I expected. It takes a holistic approach to leadership touching on a wide variety of aspects as well as current theory. In comparison with other PLD I have engaged this is top notch. Experienced, fresh and helpful mentors.”

“This programme with InterLEAD has supported me in my transition from a team leader at an early learning centre to a manager. Being supported through regular contact with a mentor, with who I could discuss goals progress and challenges I was facing in my role, has facilitated my learning in regard to effective appraisal and internal evaluation. I feel that through InterLEAD I have been supported to develop a growth mindset and gain the knowledge and skills to support my team.”

–Kate, Dunedin
“At first I was scared to move into a leadership position, however taking part in this course at the start of my journey has empowered me to have self confidence in my abilities.”
–Marcia, Christchurch
“This leadership course has helped me identify where I am, what I need to do and how effectively to do this with the tools that Karen and Ailsa gifted to us throughout the year. Knowing my WHY, understanding my team, realising small steps lead to improvement and that I require resilience and hard work in order to achieve a shared vision, values and decisions. This course has added to my Head teacher tool kit with practical and achievable steps that now equipped me with more inner confidence to lead more strongly. I feel upskilled, uplifted and ready to further my leadership journey and embrace those challenges with optimism and resourcefulness as a leader. I aim driven by the thought of creating a positive team culture that comes alive and will make a positive difference in our community.”
