Sustaining Outstanding Leaders (SOL)
Our topic for 2022 is ‘Honing up your Coaching Habit’
The first stage of coaching is ‘silence’….the second stage is ‘listening’.
Te tīmatanga o te mātauranga ko te wahangū te wahangū tuarua ko te whakarongo
What Learning Leaders think, do and say every day.
The goals for Learning Leaders are twofold. They need to develop their own theory of leadership rather than adopt someone else’s. This personalised learning theory will support the ongoing goal of successfully leading a learning organisation, while being committed to the learning of themselves and those they lead.
Leadership is traditionally viewed as a competency-based skill and seen as something people do rather than who we are, who we need to become and who we can become by BEING.
Are you ready to activate a ‘culture of thinking and learning’ for all members of your learning community?
Q. How do we define a ‘culture of thinking and learning?”
A. One that commits to learning for every single person who is part of that learning community.
We cannot expect to have one culture in the learning environment for children, and another for adults where the same principles don’t apply. Developing thinkers and learners in kaiako is just as important as in tamariki.
This professional learning programme will support leaders and kaiako who are committed to:
- Honing their coaching skills
- Lifting their evaluative practices – linked to Internal Evaluation and Professional Growth Cycles
- Learning new strategies for developing trust, courage and conversations that lead to possibilities of developing self and others.
Here’s what participants of our January 2022 programme have said:
“The SOL PLD kick-started ‘What do I want for me as a leader and for the kaiako I work with?’ Opening up to me how I coach and how I could do better.
Fantastic learning space and extremely responsive to everyone’s needs and learning styles. I would highly recommend leaders attending the next course.”
– Rhonda, Christchurch
“Thank you so much for an amazing, inspiring and engaging experience. Having the opportunity to network with a group of likeminded leaders alongside dedicated facilitators and educators has made me feel better equipped to take my coaching, and team, to the next level. I have walked away from SOL with a whole new perspective of what it means to be a leader and where I need to go next in my journey. The energy, attention to detail, and thought you put into making learning fun and meaningful made the whole experience purposeful.”
– Erica, Wellington
