Module 1: Strengthening Compliance around the Curriculum Standard

Session 1:

Who we are and why we do what we do.
Connecting our purpose to practice. We’ll unpack key curriculum documents, clarify the difference between regulations and criteria, and deepen our understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and learning.

Session 2:
24 February

The Purpose of Planning and Assessment.
A deeper dive into some of the key ideas in Te Whāriki (learner identity, C1-C13, the relationship between the Goals, LOs, Principles and Strands.)

Session 3:
31 March

A Practical Approach to Planning and Assessment.
Introduce the key elements to planning for individual children and understanding the key elements of a learning story.

Session 4 :
28 April

A Practical Approach to Kowhiti Whakapae.
Ensuring enabling environments. Exploring a practical way to use Kowhiti Whakapae in our planning and assessment.

Session 5:
26 May

Why Local Curriculum Matters.
How to develop one and engage with it authentically

 

Module 2: Strengthening Curriculum through Quality Improvement

Unpacking the purpose and elements of Self Review  

Session 2:

Unpacking the purpose and elements of Internal Evaluation

Session 3:

Digging Deeper into the Professional Growth Cycle.
Developing our coaching and mentoring skills.

Session 4:
29 September

Tying Compliance and Quality Improvement together.
Annual planning vs. Strategic improvement planning. Digging into Annual Planning – the key components.

Session 5:
27 October

Digging into Strategic Improvement Planning – the purpose and key components.

 

Each hui will run via Zoom, from 7.30am – 9am on the dates specified above.
