TIKANGA 101 : Why, How, What
Together we will explore why a bicultural approach is relevant, how to create your own personalised tikanga and what bicultural authenticity means to your everyday teaching practice.
We will be examining tikanga under the umbrella of both leadership and the principles of Te Whāriki. Key areas we will explore together include:
- Why do we each need to affirm a bicultural lens to live confidently in Aotearoa
- How can you personally connect with the three principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi (partnership, protection and participation) and create your own understandings for practice
- What are the practical steps you can take to weave bicultural authenticity into your everyday teaching practice
Following this face to face workshop we will provide a further three 1.5 hrs ZOOM sessions to support you to integrate a meaningful curriculum that reflects your commitment to being an active partner to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
If you are a leader or a kaiako who wants to ensure that all learners know and can honour our country’s cultural heritage then join us on this journey of growing together.
Strong links will be made to the following documents: Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tū Rangatira, Leadership Capability Framework, Our Code Our Standards and Te Ara Poutama.
